Whatever happened to Margo? – M.D.

In 1947, returning to England after her divorce with two young children to support, Margo Durrell is determined to embark on a new life of security and independence. Taking her maiden aunt’s advice, she opens a boarding house in sunny Bournemouth, but any hopes of respectability are dashed as the lodgers reveal themselves to be a crowd of eccentrics: from a painter of nudes to a pair of glamorous nurses whose revolving gentleman callers lead to rumors that Margo is running a brothel.

With her brother Gerald descending on the house with ‘harmless’ six-foot pythons and cages of chattering monkeys, to Margo’s horror and her children’s delight, the boarding house quickly becomes the scene of total chaos. But Margo is soon distracted from the madness when she falls in love with one of her lodgers…
